Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Therapist provides individual and group therapy, trauma-informed counseling, behavioral health support, and supports interdisciplinary care coordination to clients across all Afya Care and Treatment Services programs.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Clinical Services:
- Provide individual therapy to clients presenting with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment difficulties, and other behavioral health concerns.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions, including psychoeducational, support, and process groups.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to inform treatment planning and service coordination.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed, coordinating with care team.
Program Collaboration and Compliance:
- Participate in multidisciplinary case staffing and care team meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with grant requirements, ethical standards, and confidentiality laws.
- Assist with outcome tracking related to emotional stabilization, engagement in services, and client progress.
- Assist clients in navigating referrals to specialty mental health, substance use, and community-based services.
- Support client engagement and retention across programs through therapeutic relationship-building and continuity of care.
Professional Standards and Development:
- Adhere to ethical guidelines established by the state licensing board and applicable state laws.
- Maintain current licensure and complete required continuing education.
- Participate in required grant-related trainings and agency meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted licensure in the State of Mississippi.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing direct clinical services.
- Demonstrated experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or interpersonal trauma.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications
- LCSW or LPC licensure with active ability to bill Medicaid, Medicare, and/or commercial insurance.

- Office-based service delivery with limited community-based engagement.
